Description
John Langdon account statement with merchant Judah Mears. The owing balance was one pound, nineteen shillings and ten and a half pence. Items purchased included rum and dry goods, while credits entries were made for cash and bushels of wheat.
Notation on verso states that Mears received payment, at Hempstead, N.Y., in full from John Thomas for account of John Langdon in July 1772.
Note: Langdon operated a mill near his house on the Mill River at Near Rockaway, N.Y.; he also probably owned a farm at Jerusalem (present-day Wantagh), N.Y.
